From the Apuan Alps to the sea

The Apuan Alps are a mountain range in north-western Tuscany, lying partly within the Provinces of Lucca and Massa-Carrara. They make up one of the most significant karst areas in Italy. The Apuan Riviera stretches from the south-eastern end of the Province of La Spezia in Liguria to the north-western part of Tuscany, where it takes in almost all of the coastline in the Province of Massa-Carrara.

How to get there

Take the train from Sarzana to Carrara, then the L50 bus towards Colonnata;
Take a taxi from Sarzana to Monte Sagro (in the Apuan Alps);
Rent a car with a driver to take you from Sarzana to Monte Sagro
